Just popping in with a quick heads up this afternoon - Photography Concentrate is wrapping up a big back to school sale on all of their tutorials tonight! 30% off everything, no code necessary.
I've bought 5 or 6 tutorials on various subjects from Rob and Lauren in the past, and loved every single one of them. They use a combination of written instruction and videos to give you clear, thorough instruction and advice.
- Extremely Essential Camera Skills is great for when you're just starting out and wanting to learn the basics of how to use your fancy camera in manual mode - it breaks down the interplay between aperture and shutter speed and white balance into a very easy to understand relationship [I actually sent this tutorial to my brother when he received a DSLR for Christmas last year!].
- Super Photo Editing Skills teaches you allllll about how to use Lightroom - seriously, amazingly helpful. I found Lightroom to be just about the most confusing program on the planet when I first bought it, and had no idea how to do just about anything more than import photos before I worked through this tutorial. This one includes a set of sample photos that Rob walks you through editing step by step, "live" with the tutorial video - it really taught me so much about the capabilities of the different modules. I would absolutely recommend this as an essential purchase accompanying Lightroom, to be honest - it does such a good job of clarifying a very complex program.
- The Creativity Field Guide contains a ton of fantastic ideas to help you get more creative with your photography process - whether you're using a super expensive DSLR or the handy dandy little thing known as your cell phone.
- Backup or Die - important information about the various options out there to backup and safeguard your photos. This one is actually pretty applicable to those of you non-photographers out there! Considering the increasing importance of technology in our lives, if you don't have a good backup system in place for your computer, you're risking some pretty serious problems.
- Incredibly Important Composition Skills - photos, illustrations, videos and exercises, all about the art of composing photos. Admittedly, I have yet to explore this one myself, as I purchased it during a sale last year...and then promptly forgot about it because I started medical school. Womp. It's like a nice little present to discover I have it hanging around my hard drive!
Photography Concentrate offers 12 different tutorials on a variety of subjects, meaning there are quite a few that I haven't gotten to try personally. I currently have my eye on their newest tutorial, Fantastic Fundamental Light Skills, as lighting is something I'd love to learn more about. Photography, to me, is such a never-ending learning process - there's always something else for me to practice and to learn and to integrate into the way I do things.

I feel a need to point out, in the face of an ever more cynical internet, that this is not a sponsored post in any way - I just happen to love this company and love their products. I did use a bunch of affiliate links, however, so if you decide you want to take a chance and try out a tutorial, I do stand to earn a little bit of money - which is always appreciated, as I am going to emerge from this med school thing MASSIVELY in debt. Every little bit counts.
